What is Hawai'i LIMBY?

Hawaii LIMBY (locals in my backyard) is an organization dedicated to building a housing market that supports kama'aina and kanaka alike. Our solutions center around permanent affordability, creating a locals first market, and retooling our housing financing systems to drive genuine affordability.

We believe our housing conversation has been dominated by folks who say not in my backyard (NIMBYs) and by developers who have co-opted our affordable housing debate to claim the opposite side (yes in my backyard or YIMBY), but really are all about profits.

We're here to build a movement that gets locals housed–we say we need a movement for locals in my backyard (LIMBY). To get there we're providing policy guidance, data, and public outreach. You can read more read more about what we think will work on the policy stubs page.
